Best Ways To Germinate Your Seeds

How to Germinate Cannabis Seeds

Here is an easy to follow a 4 step guide on how to germinate cannabis seeds.

Step 1 – Setting Up:

  • First you will need any 2 traditional kitchen plates. Smaller sized ones work best. Line one of the plates with a few layers of wet tissue and drain any excess water from the plate. You want moisture, not a flood. Then place your cannabis seeds on top of the tissue, giving each seed as much space as possible. Pretend you are baking cookies on a tray. Then, place another few layers of moist tissue on top of the seeds. Again moisture is the key, not a flood and allow any excess water to run off. Finally you want to create a dark and moist environment for germination. So cover the first plate with the second plate, upside down, to form a clam like shell shape.

Step 2 -Germination:

  • Take your claim like plates and place them somewhere warm (ideally around 21ºC) and out of direct light. Check on them daily and make sure the tissues having dried out. Moreover, use a spray bottle if you have to touch up the tissues to maintain moisture. Usually within 24 to 72 hours, your seeds should start to open up exposing a small root. This is known as your taproot. Don’t give up if your root hasn’t shot thru yet, some seeds can take up to 10 days to germinate. Once the first few millimeters of root have emerged from your germinated seed, your seeds should be carefully transferred to a small container of your growing medium. Hence the growing medium can be rockwool, coco-fibre or organic soil.

Step 3 – Potting:

  • You will want to plant your germinated cannabis seed approx. 1.2 – 2.5cm below your grow mediums surface. Make a little hole for your seed and place the cannabis seed root down into the hole. Then cover the hole with a minimal amount of grow medium. Enough to block out the light, but not too much to stunt the seedlings growth from pushing upwards. You will start to notice your Cannabis seedlings poking through the surface within 72 hours after being planted.
Step 4 – The Seedling:
  • Newly sprouted seedlings should be exposed to bright light from the time they emerge. The seedlings are quite delicate in the beginning, so extra care needs to be given for the first 2 weeks. Thus seedlings intended for outdoor growing should be acclimatized to direct sunlight to simulate their environment. Pace them on a windowsill inside the house to increase their exposure to direct sunlight. Do this for an hour or two per day. Seedlings intended for indoor grows may emerge into an artificially lit environment. If you are using an HID lighting system, remember that seedlings should be kept a min distance of 50 to 80cm from the bulb. Seedlings growing under the use of fluorescent lights, can be kept a normal distance from the tube/bulb.  Lastly, buy your Marijuana seeds from the seed pharm today!
