About 501st OG Strain

501st OG is the offspring of Skywalker OG and Rare Dankness 1, and it inherits the OG family’s density along with a broad colour range —growers report purple, deep green and rust-red expressions from the same seed pack. The smoke is smooth rather than scratchy, opening mildly earthy and fruity before the exhale turns piney and woody with a sweet grape note underneath. The buds are small but tight, and the smell fills a room quickly.

It runs 18% THC with a notably high CBD range of 3 to 10%, which is rare in a modern hybrid. At 80% indica, the character is heavily body-weighted with limited head effect. Onset is quick and the effect holds for an hour or more; most growers describe it as calm and settled.

Growing 501st OG Feminized Seeds in Canada

These are photoperiod feminized seeds, meaning the plant vegetates as long as you leave the lights on 18 hours and only begins to flower when you drop to a 12/12 cycle. That control is the point, you decide how big the plant gets before it stops growing upward, and you can hold a mother in veg indefinitely if you want to take cuttings.

501st OG is easy indoors and forgiving of the mistakes a newer grower makes with feeding and pH. It also stays short for a photoperiod plant, finishing around 3 to 4 feet, which suits a low-ceilinged basement tent or a condo closet. Indoors is where the strain performs best, since you are setting the light schedule yourself instead of waiting on the northern sun.

Outdoors and in greenhouses it holds up well and does not want heavy watering, which is useful in a dry Alberta or Saskatchewan summer. Bear in mind that outdoors the flip happens on nature’s schedule, flowering only starts as August days shorten, so plan for an October harvest and use a greenhouse if you are on the coast or in Ontario where autumn damp brings mould risk to dense OG-type buds. Topping and low-stress training open the tight internodes and get light into the lower canopy.
